I’m a female Hispanic in my late 30’s. I work full time as customer service and I’m married with 3 children. The medical coding program I attended was for a 8 months course, 7 month in class and the last month was internship.
Why were you interested in medical coding training?
I was interested in medical coding because I heard it’s a lot of researching and will keep me busy. I wanted to better my life and I’m getting tired of what I’m doing at work and wanted to do something I will enjoy.
How did you choose the medical coding program you attended?
I choose medical coding I attended because they offer night class so it was flexible for me to attend right after work. Also the distance from home was not too far.
What did you like about the program?
I like the program because of the evening classes they offer and I got to meet new people.
What did you not like about the program?
The only thing I dislike is the price of the program.
What types of jobs did you and your fellow classmates get after completing the training? How much did these jobs pay?
I’m still looking for a job for what I went to school for. I had 1 interview but they were only offering part time I needed full time, and their pay rate starting with someone with no experience was $9.00 Most of the places I have been looking at want experience only. I know of 2 classmates who are having a hard time looking for medical coding positions.
What was the total cost for your medical coding program?
The total amount for the program was $16,000.00
How did you pay for your medical coding program?
I applied for financial aid; it covered most of the cost. The rest of the balance I paid the school monthly until it was paid off.
What advice would you give to students regarding paying for their medical coding training?
The advice I give is make sure you pay the course if not they can garnish your pay, and they won’t let you graduate or give you your diploma until the program is paid in full.
What things should a student look for when choosing a medical coding program?
Students should look for flexible hours if they work, also the cost of the course.
